Test Types

The written part (Listening, Reading & Writing) is computer based and lasts approximately 3 hours (depending on the exam level)
The speaking part is an online interview with a live interlocutor and lasts up to 15 minutes (depending on the exam level) More information can be found on this link.

LanguageCert International ESOL SELT (Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking) – A single-branded four-skill language test accepted for work and study visas. This assessment solution is based on the Ofqual-regulated International ESOL (Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking) exam suite, which is recognised internationally and is available at the following CEFR levels: B1, B2, C1, C2.

LanguageCert International ESOL SELT (Speaking & Listening) – An Ofqual regulated two-skill language test designed specifically for visa and immigration purposes, available at levels A1, A2, B1. The level and type of the exam you need to take is determined by the type of visa you require.

– The LanguageCert International ESOL SELT (Speaking & Listening) exam is a short online conversation with a live interlocutor. The LanguageCert International ESOL SELT (Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking) exam consists of two components: the Written component (Listening, Reading, Writing), which is taken on a computer the Spoken component (Speaking), which is an online interview with a live Interlocutor

4. Booking an SELT Test

At the “Book your SELT exam” page, make sure you select the correct “Exam” type that you want to be tested for. Then select “Cyprus” as your country and “North Nicosia” as the city and click on search to view the available test dates.

5. On the Test Day

You should bring only pens, pencils and erasers. You should also have the
passport/national identity card you submitted on the SELT UKVI Application Form along
with you. You should leave all your other belongings including personal watches
outside the testing room. All kinds of electronic devices such as mobile phones and
pagers should be turned off and left with other personal belongings in the area
indicated by the supervisor. You will be disqualified if you do not do so.

You must have a valid form of photographic ID, such as a Passport, EU ID card, Valid Travel Document (this does not include Emergency Travel Documents), Biometric Residence Permits (BRP), Biometric Residence Card (BRC), Government ID card (only accepted in the country it was issued in).

You MUST ensure ALL your Candidate Profile details (names, date of birth, ID number, nationality) match identically to the details contained within the ID. Please note, you MUST bring the SAME photo ID on exam day.

The test starts at 9 am on the exam day and candidates have to be at the exam centre at 8:30 am at the latest.

6. Results, scores and report forms :

The passing score for each exam differs. SELT passing score will also appear on your Test Report. You can check the webpage of the SELT exam you’re interested in to find out the passing score you need to achieve.

Your Test Report is sent via email and are also uploaded on your LanguageCert Account.

If you are taking a Speaking & Listening exam, your preliminary results will be available a few minutes after your exam. The official Test Report will be issued 3 working days after your exam day. If you are taking a Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking exam your Test Report will be issued 5 working days after you have completed both components of your exam.

If you achieve an average score of 60% or more in Speaking & Listening or 50% or more in Listening, Reading, Writing and/or Speaking you will be awarded the corresponding LanguageCert International ESOL certificate(s), regardless of whether you have reached your UKVI target scores in each of the language skills tested.

The Unique Reference Number (URN) is required for your visa application and can be found on your Test Report.
